This Christmas season has been such a blessing for us. So far we have been able to relax, spend time with family, and hang out with each other. Thank you Jesus for your many blessings!
For Christmas Eve Aaron and I sang in my Dad's church choir and then hung out celebrating at my parents house. Each Christmas Eve we have a big buffet of our favorite foods. And no. You will not find all food groups represented there. As is happens, our family has refined and edited the buffet down to the following items: (I give you permission to drool)
*tamales
*bbq ribs, my Dad's of course
*chips and queso
*guacamole
*shrimp cocktail (not my favorite)
*texas trash (I'll explain what this is in another post. I will tell you what it is NOT: chex mix.)
*and whatever dessert I choose to make-Usually this happens to be turtle cheesecake and easy brownie triffle. This year I made Tres Leche Cake instead.
It was pretty good.
On Christmas Day we celebrated with Aaron's fam. We drew names this year to exchange gifts. I had my brother-in-law Ray. I gave him a Best Buy gift certificate because, well, he's a guy and that's what he asked for=) When I wrapped it though, I placed it inside my copy of New Moon. For those of you who are unfamiliar, New Moon is part of the Vampire/Warewolf/Romance/ Slighty-Teeny Bopper saga. It was hilarious to watch him open his gift and see New Moon glaring back at him.
The following day we headed out to the deer lease to go huntin' with my fam. Since I shot a 13 or 14 point buck last year, I decided that I had conquered that feat and stayed in the house cooking breakfast and baking goodies and taking photos with Old Timer. I made biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, and easy brownie trifle. I think I had more fun. Everyone else was freezing their butts off in the below freezing temps. I did however go hunting for hogs at night, with no avail.
Eh.
Whatever.
Bree, my bro's girlfriend, and I just wanted to stick a pig with Aaron's bayonet anyways.
After someone shot it of course.
But Aaron would have none of that.
"It's not for sticking pigs with."
Bree and I disagree.
After hunting, I trekked up to Dallas to spend time with the best gal in the world. Amy. I took care of her while she recovered from surgery. Good times.
This week I have nothing planned! Whoo-hoo! Then I'll be closing my break with a camping trip with our small group. I'm excited.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
